Once there was a prince and he saw a beautiful village girl that he loved and wanted to marry. He went to the king, his Father, and told him he was going into town with his horses and chariots, gifts and flowers, to ask her to marry him.

The king said “Oh, son, you don’t want to do that. She might only say yes because of your power and wealth, not because she truly loves you.”

The prince agreed and tried a different approach. Instead, he decided to wear village clothes and disguise himself as a normal man. He went into the village to try to win the girl’s heart. He spent days and weeks talking to her, getting to know her, laughing with her and sharing his heart with her. She grew to love him for who he was.

One evening when the time was right, the prince asked her to marry him, and with great delight, she said yes. They knew each other and loved one another deeply.

The prince took her back to his castle where he told her the truth. He introduced her to his father, the king, and revealed their family’s power. She was in disbelief, but was honored to become a princess and live with the prince forever and ever happily ever after.

God sent his son Jesus to win humanity’s heart by coming into the world as a human, a layman in the town of Nazareth. He spent his life sharing his heart with the people and many grew to love him for who he really was. Those who accepted him and believed in him were saved and brought home to his Father to spend eternity together, in perfect love, happily every after.

Although this isn’t a perfect analogy, I hope it communicates the tenderness and humble approach God took to truly capture our hearts.
